Pharmacogenomics of Antipsycbotic Drugs

There is a substantial variation in the treatment response and adverse reactions to antipsychotic drugs. Pharmacogenomics of antipsychoric drugs is to identify the gene(s) related with this variability in outcome to antipsychotic drugs. The genes considered to be related with the mechanism of action of antipsychotic drugs have been focused in this field. such as cytochrome P450. serotonin receptors, and dopamine receptors genes. Pharmacogenomic studies dealing with antipsychotic drugs have aimed to identify the association of these genes and drug response and adverse reactions. In this paper, the concept, methodological considerations, and future prospect of pharmacogenomics related with antipsychotic drugs will be addressed with extensive review of literatures .
