Sexual Messages in the Media and Adolescents' Attitudes & Behaviors Toward Sex

The purpose of this study is to investigate adolescents' attitudes and behaviors toward sex according to the gender and types of school. Subjects of this study were 488 high school students drawn from academic, two vocational. and one special purpose school in Cheong-ju city during Oct 4th~8th, 2000. Data were collected by questionnaires and analyzed by SPSSWIN program. The statistical techniques used for the analysis are frequency, percentage, and x² test. The result was a statistical difference in adolescents' attitudes and behaviors toward sex according to the gender. Male students were more likely to have liberal and permissive attitudes & behaviors toward sex than female students. There were differences in adolescents' attitudes and behaviors toward sex according to the types of school. Students of the special purpose school had more liberal and permissive attitudes & behaviors toward sex than the other school students. Vocational school students were more liberal and permissive toward sex than academic school students.
