The Purpose of this study is to evaluate indoor thermal environment of one-room type multi-family housing during springtime in order to propose design factors improving indoor environment. Physical thermal elements(indoor temperature, relative humidity, and globe temperature) in 4 subject houses selected considering of architectural factors were measured in May, 1999. Questionnaire survey for investigating thermal responses of 25 residents was carried out. The findings are as follows. 1) Indoor temperature and globe temperature are distributed 23. 5~28. 5℃, 23.5~28.5℃ for southern directions and 24.0~24.5℃, 24.0-24.5℃ for northern directions in a sunny day. Indoor temperature and globe temperature are distributed 22.5~25.0, 22.5~24.5℃ for southern directions and 23.0~27.5, 22.5~27.0℃ for northern directions in a cloudy day. Relative humidity are distributed 38.0~54.0%. 2) As thermal responses, 'neutral' on thermal sensation and 'slightly dry' or 'neutral' on humidity sensation show highest percentage. 3) Therefore, indoor thermal environment of one-room type multi-family housing during springtime is evaluated on the whole comfort condition. But southern direction house at midday is in somewhat hot and dry condition, and northern direction house is in somewhat cool condition all day.
