The Use and Composition on Exterior Spaces of Well-designed Apartment Complexes in the Metropolitan Area

The purpose of this study is to give fundamental data for the planning on exterior space of apartments. Exterior space are consisted of green area, service facilities, children's activity space, social sports facilities, welfare facilities and leisure facilities. The apartment complexes in seoul city and metropolitian area with well-designed exterior space were selected for this study, and we examined their composition of exterior space and the residents' satisfaction of green area. 120 residents of 4 apartment complexes, which were built in last 3 years and have more than 500 households, answered the questionnaire. The results were as follows. 1) The diversity of exterior spaces is not sufficient, and the planning of exterior spaces is focused only on green spaces. 2) Green area which consists of the pond, artificial fall, and artificial fountain got high score in the use and satisfaction level, showing good planning of outer spaces. 3) There are positive correlations between the use and satisfaction level.
