파노라마적 사회심리학(차재호, 1991,1994)에서 사용되는 형태분석의 서설로서 재난에 대한 미국에서의 심리학적 재난연구를 중심으로 재난연구역사와 연구에서 맑혀진 결과들을 개관했다. 재난연구의 연혁, 재난연구의 연혁, 재난의 구분, 재난과 사고의 관계, 그리고 재난 후의 심리사회적 영향, 재난 전의 대응반응에 대하서 다루었다. 부분적으로 필자의 분석을 첨가했다.
As a prelude to a planned paper on the configurational analysis of disasters within the framework of a panoramic social psychology proposed by the writer(Cha, 1991, 1994), social scientific studies dealing with disasters done in the United States were reviewed with special attention to topics of interest to psychologists. History of disaster studies, types of disasters, the relation between accident and disaster, psychological impact of disaster, psychological responses of survivors to disaster during and after the disaster, and psychological processes involved immediately prior to disaster impact including perception of danger and decision making in the face of impending danger were discussed. The writer's own analyses were added at appropriate places.
