심리치료에서 기억의 문제

Psychotherapy and Memory

본고에서는 기억심리학에서 연구하고 있는 일화 기억 연구와 관련하여 심리치료에서 기억을 어떻게 다루고 있는지를 개관해 보고자 한다. 이 문제를 크게 세가지 관점에서 살펴보았다. 첫째, 기억이 얼마나 정확한지의 문제이다. 특히 어린 시절의 기억 상실과 관련해서 기억의 정확성 문제와 허위 기억(false memory) 문제가 논의 되었다. 둘째, 첫 기억을 위시한 초기기억을 어떻게 이해할 수 있는가를 살펴보았다. 그리고 심리치료에서 어린 시절 외상 경험이 회복된 경우에 대한 논란을 살펴보았다. 셋째, 심리치료에서 기억의 문제를 심리치료에서 기억의 중요성과 정확성을 중심으로 고찰해 보았다. 심리치료에서는 기억 자체보다 내현적인 관계 인식(implicit relational knowledge)을 중요시하고 있음이 지적되었다. 마지막으로, 앞으로의 연구방향을 제시하며 기억문제의 쟁점을 논의하였다.

This article was reviewed aspects of the memory in psychotherapy, related with episodic memory researches. Firstly, issues of memory accuracy, especially the problem of childhood amnesia and false memory were summarized. Secondly, the meaning of first memory and early childhood memory was discussed. And were discussed the debates of recovered memory of early childhood trauma. Thirdly, the importance of memory and memory accuracy in psychotherapy were discussed. Recall of early traumatic memory is not regard as a purpose of psychotherapy. What is more important in psychotherapy is implicit relational knowledge and its change. Finally, controversies and future directions of memory researches were discussed.
