미국의 노동자 경영참가에 관한 연구

A Study on the Worker Participation in the United States

This paper is a review article on the worker participation in the American industry. Recently there is a growing effort to introduce various worker participation schemes into American industry. I classified these schemes into three categories, namely paticipation in the shop floor level, participation in the strategic decision, and participation in the financial distribution. Most studies agree that various worker participation schemes have pasitive effects on the productivity and other performance of firms. On the other hand, the promise of industrial democracy has never been fulfilled. The attitude of management is still tough on the issue of management prerogatives and the attitude of union is also not so positive toward worker participation. There is no legal structure and administrtive system for the worker participation. So there is a long way left before the dream of industrial democracy is realized in the American industry.
