Automobile Industry of Korea: Prospect and Options

This paper starts with describing the remarkable achievement made by Korean automotive industry in the past there decades. Then it analyzes the unfavorable circumstances, such as shrinking demand for automobile, the opening of the domestic market, and over-all downturn of Korean economy, currently facing Koran automotive industry. However, it is asserted in the paper that those conditions can be challenges which Korean automotive industry has to meet and overcome anyway. Futhermore, it is also said in the paper this might be a good opportunity which Korean automotive industry can utilize in order to level itself up. The restructuring of the present automotive-parts supply system is identified in the paper as one of the key factors for the successful levelling-up. Then the paper suggests Korean automotive-parts industry should pay additional efforts in certain major areas to successfully conduct the restructuring. And related strategies and the means are presented in that regard.
