Quality Contorl applies statistical sampling principles to insure an acceptable quality level of Lot. Quality Control concentrates on defect detection, prediction an ultimately the prevention of an unacceptable level of defective items. The classical approach to Quality Control utilizes information gained from sampling to assess the quality of a lot based on a comparison to normal quality levels. The Bayesian approach to Quality Control allows for the use of prior information. Prior information can then be used to improve the reliability of current sampling information : Bayesian statistics. Decision making can function in the Bayesian model utilizing expected values. The first section explains classical Quality Control procedures. The second section discusses the Bayesian theoretical approach to Quality Control. The final section contains my assessment of the practical or impractical applications of Bayesian decision theory.
