개인기부에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구: 자선적 기부노력을 중심으로

A Study on Individual Giving in Korea. An Analysis of the Philanthropic Efforts

우리나라에서도 비영리조직의 사회적 역할과 비중이 증대하고 있지만 구조적으로 재정적인 취약점에 노출되어 있다 비영리조직의 재정적인 안정을 달성하는데 있어 시민의 참여, 특히 시민의 자선적 기부는 매우 중요한 역할을 할 수 있다 본 논문은 사회복지조직을 포함한 다양한 자선 기부처를 대상으로 개인이 자선적 기부를 얼마나 적극적으로 참여하는가에 초점을 두고 전국적인 표본을 이용하여 그 현황을 살펴보고 동시에 개인의 자선적 기부에 영향을 미치는 요인을 탐색해 보고자 한다 본 연구에서 발견한 것은 2000년 한 해 동안 개인적으로 기부하거나 후원활동에 참가한 경험이 있는 사람은 전체 조사대상자의 약 4분의 3에 달하고, 참여의 방법에서는 종교기관과 언론기관을 통한 방법이 가장 일반적인 것으로 나타났다 그리고 이러한 자선적 기부를 하는 동기는 '종교적 평화를 얻기 위해서'와 '어려운 사람을 돕기 위해서'가 가장 빈번하게 언급되는 동기인 것으로 나타났다 개인의 총소득에서 자선적 기부금액이 차지하는 비율로 측정된 자선적 기부노력을 설명하는 모델을 회귀분석을 통해 분석해 본 결과 기부노력에 대한 관계성이 있는 변수는 개인 소득(-), 가구소득(+), 연령(+), 종교(기독교), 직업(주부), 종교적 신념(+), 기부금의 용도에 대한 관심(+) 등인 것으로 나타났다 본 연구는 자선적 기부노력의 현실을 탐색하면서 동시에 이에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 변수들을 구별해 내어 이 현상에 대한 지식화에 기여할 수 있다고 본다 본 연구는 연구가 갖는 제한성을 극복하는 차원에서 인구집단별로 그리고 기부처별로 일반 시민의 기부 행동에 관해 보다 세분된 분석을 할 필요성이 있음을 논의하며 다양한 방향에서 수행되어져야 하는 후속 연구의 방향을 논의한다

While nonprofit organizations takes increasingly significant roles in solving various social problems in Korea, they are exposed to the financial fragility. Citizen's participation for these organizations is very important to strengthen NPOs. Especially, individual giving would contribute to achieving the financial stability of nonprofit organizations in Korea This paper attempts to explore and describe the current situation of individual giving in Korea by examining characteristics of individual giving in Korean adult population. This paper also attempts to identify factors affecting the individual philanthropic efforts(philan- thropic giving/individual income). The findings are as follows: three quarter of respondents had philanthropic giving in 2000; they usually had giving through religious organizations and mass-media organization, major motives of individual giving were 'realization of religious peace' and 'recognition of helping the disadvantaged' The philanthropic efforts, which are measured by the proportion of philanthropic donation from the total individual income, are most strongly predicted by individual income(-), family income(+), age( +), religion(Christianity), occupation(house wives), religious belief(+), and concern about use of donated money(+). This paper contributes to promoting understandings about individual philanthropic giving and efforts in Korea. Finally, this paper discusses directions of research concerning individual giving in Korea.
