The purpose of this study is to investigate effective management methods for the Registered Nurse-Bachelor of Science m Nursing(RN-BSN) program. The subjects for tins consisted of 1,472 junior college students and 1,048 junior college graduates who are now nurses working at hospitals in Taegu City, Kyungpook Province, and Kyungnam Province. SPSS was used to analyze the data and obtain frequencies, percentages, and chi-square tests. The results are as follows, 1) Demand for an RN-BSN program (a) Nursing students who graduate from junior college expect to get their Bachelor of Science degree(B S ) through the various study program(70.3%). Most of the subjects want to get the degree of B.S(82.4%) and most would prefer to attend RN-BSN program(90.5%). Of these, 65% hope enroll at Keimyung University College of Nursing. (b) Subjects who wish to seek a BS degree suggested that they would prefer discussion in the classroom, after self-directed learning according to module(51.9%). The preferred teaching methods are lecture(35.5%), simulation of actual working sets(248%), and discussions about module(218%). (c) With regard to the method of earing credit, the subjects want partial credit of previous nursing college credits(33.7%), and distant 1earning(21.7%). The desired self-directed learning to classroom study ratio was 2.1(42.7%), and 1.1(29.3%). The desired cultural study to major course was 1:2(40.9%), and 1.3(37.6%) (d) The subjects prefer that RN-BSN clasres is provided in two sessions on weeknights after 6 p.m(47.7%) or one session during the day(27.3%) 60.7% of the subjects would like to open summer semester. They hoped that the field of practice would be arranged by the college(39.9%), and that some field of practice should be fixed by the college, but expressed a desire to choose their field(27.2%) (e) Prerequisite cultural studies include computer or information science, English, psychology, human behavior, social welfare, human development, nutrition, and a second foreign language. Major studies include advanced adult nursing, emergency nursing, advanced maternity nursing, advanced psychiatric nursing, advanced fundamentals of nursing & practice, hospice nursing, anatomy, advanced pediatric nursing, nursing and oriental medicine, geriatric nursing, and human relationship and communication. (f) Characteristics that the subjects hoped to find in the RN-BSN professors were affording opportunities for private meetings(414%), skilled at facilitating discussions and module development (35,7%), and strong classroom teaching skills(l7.6%) 2) Differences in demands for an RN -BSN program More students(84.9%) than nurses(79%) expressed a desire to obtain a B S. degree. Of those, students who hoped to be accepted into the Keimyung University RN-BSN program was 71.3%, while nurses was 56.5%. The reason of not wanting to attend RN-BSN program was nurses were no real advantage for getting a B S degree(39.3%), and nursing students wanted to obtain a B.S degree through the other study programs(35.9%). With respect to teaching method, nurses prefer lectures(70.5%) rather than module discussions(13.3%), while students prefer the module discussion(21.8%). An interest in opening a summer semester was expressed by 63.7% of students and 56.7% of nurses. With respect to the practice, students would like the fields of practice to be established by the college(47.4%). while the nurses would like to choose their field(35.2%). With regard to characteristics of the professor, students expect them to be humanitarian and allow individual choices(46.8%), while the nurses expect highly qualified teachers(36.4%). There no difference in the other items. 3) Differences In demand for RN-BSN program at Keimyung University versus other universities. More students(63..3%) than nurses(52.6%) expressed an interest in entering an RN-BSN program. However 43.5% of the nurse who had 4-10 years work experience wanted to enter RN-BSN program,
