임상실습시 간호대학생의 기본간호술 수행빈도 및 자신감에 관한 연구

A Study on Performance and Self-Confidence of Basic Nursing Skills of Nursing Students in Clinical Setting

This study was carried out to survey the performance and self-confidency of basic nursing skills of nursing students in clinical setting. The subjects were 106 in a nursing school in Daegu Data were collected from March to April 2001 using questionnaire, analyzed by descriptive statistics, percentage, means, t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient using SPSS 10.0 version program. The results are as follows 1. Over 90% of subjects evaluated that fundamentals of nursing is vital for nursing education in clinical setting. Many of them agreed on that contents of basic nursing skills should be changed and strengthened. 2. Among the specific basic nursing skills which nursing students were carried out during the clinical practice, taking respiration rates showed the highest frequent performance both junior and senior students. Taking radial pulse, blood pressure on upper arm, axillary temperature and making bed makings respectively. Nasal medication, urinary catheterization, subcutaneous injection, applying bed pan, tracheostomy tube care and bed sore care were lower performance than any other basic nursing skills in frequency. Nursing students had no opportunity doing CPR during the clinical practice. 3. Among the basic nursing skills taking body weight showed the highest level and taking height, pulse, respiration, making bed, taking body temperature on tympanic membrane and applying ice bag respectively on self-confidency both junior and senior students. Blood transfusion was the lowest level, and urinary catheterization, intravenous injection, colostomy care, tracheostomy tube care and bed sore care were lower than any other basic nursing skills. 4. There was positive correlation between frequency of performance and self-confidency of basic nursing skills.
