A Study on the Aspects of the Relationship between Yisugwang's Yuseon poetry and Dream

This study aims to scrutinize how Yisugwang expressed his psychology in the Yuseon poetry(a kind of poetry dealing with the world of the Taoist hermit) in Jibongjib(A Collection of Jibong Yisugwang's Work). Yisugwang, maintaining his confucian view, embraced other literary views and knew much about them He made dear his position to accept whatever was helpful for Confucianism even in heretical knowledges, such as Buddhism, Taoism, and Roman Catholicism Yisugwang expressed his thought by accepting the Yuseon Poetry of Tang poetical style, which was prevalent in the day, on the ground of the deep understanding of Taoist thought. Yisugwang used a material of 'dream' to express confucian ideas and fantasy in the Yuseon poetry. By using dream, he understood that the world of Yusoen was the one connected with the reality rather than the unreal and supernatural one. The Yuseon poetry, which had a profusion of romance and fantasy, offered Yisugwang the space for literary imagination and ar the same rime, showed the ideal world to realize the ideal of Kyeongsejemin(to plan the world and relieve (he people) Yisugwang hoped. As it were, it showed that Isugwang, as a confucian, hoped to realize the perfect and peaceful world of Kyeongsejemin beyond the restriction to confucian conduct through the world of Yuseon.
