This paper aims at investigating the method of satire in A Peaa:fiJ WorMTaepyengcheonha) in relation to the achievement of realism. First, this novel has not the unity of plot. Because the hero's negative aspects are set forth, the plot become collected episodes. 'This result follows from the absence of the positive characters. Secondly, this novel usee mainly the method of telling. So heros's negative aspects appears directly. Thirdly, satiric method in this novel is stable irony. As a result, this method attenuates self-criticism. lastly, this absence of self-criticism makes this work monologic novel. In conclusion, this novel achieves significant result in showing the critical attitude to the 1930's reality. But it fails in having a through grasp the complicated character of reality. So we conclude that A Peaceful World can not succeed in embodying a truthful realism.
