A Study on the Prospective Housing Preference of Middle-agers in Seoul

1. CONTENTS (1) RESEARCH OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study is to find out the prospective housing preference of the mid-agers who become old agers in the near future. Basic data for elderly housing policy is provided by doing this research. (2) RESEARCH METHOD Frequency analysis through questionnaire survey (3) RESEARCH RESULTS Research results show that most respondents want to live in the suburbs and single family detatched housing and apartment with size of 20-30pyuung and 10-20pyung. They also like to live alone or with a spouse rather than living with their chidren. Most respondents prefer owner occupied housing and hope to live public rental housing for the elderly represent if it is provided by government. However, these responses vary with income groups. 2. RESULTS Research results imply that housing policy for the elderly should be established on the basis of the demends of every imcome group. Public financial aid and reverse mortgage system are considered in providing elderly housing. In addition to housing proviwion, it is necessary for the government to supply various public services, making it possible for the elderly to live independently. 3.
