지역운동 속의 성인학습에 관한 연구 - 제주시 화북주공아파트 운동을 중심으로 -

A Study of Adult Education in Community Action -Focusing on the movement in the Hwabug Apartment Complex in Jeju

학습은 우리의 일상생활 속에 편재한다. 특히 인간의 능동적이고 집단적인 삶의 모습이 고스란히 담겨 있는 사회운동을 학습의 관점에서 접근할 때, 우리는 교육학계가 소홀히 다뤄온 교육의 형식과의 미를 재발견 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 제주시 화북주공아파트 주민운동의 사례 분석을 통해, 지역사회의 지도자가 사회운동 과정 속에서 자연스럽게 길러지고 지역주민의 자치의식이 함양되는 무형식적 성인 학습의 모습을 드러냈다. 또 그런 무형식적 성인학습의 과정에서 공기업의 이윤추구와 소비적 개인주의라는 지배적 헤게모니에 대한 비판과 주민참여에 의한 주거권 확보 및 아파트 공동체만들기라는 대항적 헤게모니의 형성을 보여주었다 . 그리하여 교육을 개인적 수준 수준에서만 접근함으로써 교육의 탈정치화를 초래했던 교육학계의 관행을 넘어, 교육의 의미를 집단으로서의 인간이 벌이는 헤게모니적 관계 속에서 재구성 할 수 있었다.

Learning is ubiquitous in our daily life. Specifically, when approaching a social movement in terms of learning. in which active and collective human lives are reflected, we rediscover the form and meaning of education that the education circle has neglected. This study reports the facts and figures of informal learning through case studies focusing on the movement in the Hwabug Apartment Complex in ]eju. Through informal learning, the leaders of the community are fostered naturally and an autonomous mindset of residents of the community has Increased and improved. Also, in the process of such infonnal learning. we find criticism of the dominant hegemony; such as public organizations' pursuit of profit and a resulting consuming of individualism. There is, however, the formation of a counter-hegemony, such as securing housing rights and making a community of apartments through the participation of residents. In the existing practice of an education circle, education has been approached on an individual level and thus education has escaped from politics. This study overcame such practice of the education and reorganized the meaning of education in terms of a hegemonic relationship of people in groups.
