The porpose of this study is to analyze cultural and historical contents in geography of national curriculum and to suggest alternative teaching and learning methods. Today, cultural and historical contents have been decreased within geography curriculum. Especially, in the cultural and historical geography, topic-oriented contents are almost disappeared. To mitigate this situation, it is required to teach more cultural and historicalcontents in regional geography classes. In order for students to understand region and regionality exactly, they have to learn hyman adaptation to the natural environments, construction of human culture and effects of cultural relicts on present everyday regional life. Therefore, this study suggests combination of topic-oriented and region-oriented teaching and learning methods in geography curriculum.
