A study on fairy tales theme of Kweon Jeong-saeng

Kwon Jeong-sang is an author who has been actively writes a lot of fairly tales after gaining a literature prize from a Christian child literature journal with "Shit of Puppy" in 1960. He is building a new literary horizon of theme, by pursuing sound perception of future, amidst intense reality-related issues, for which I have examined the meaning and perspective of child 11terature by using approximately 120 works of short and medium-length of the writer's as object of study. As a basic step to the examination of theme features of Kwon Jeong-sang's fairy tales, I, in chapter 2, looked carefully into the writer's birth, growth and writing activity, and furthermore his literature, religion and life in general. I recognize that Kwon Jeong-sang's literature starting line is love, and that it is not irrelevant to Christian spirit. In chapter 3, I have made research on his works' theme in separate sections as follows: What I have examined is that the theme's features are pursuit for idealistic society for the purpose of peaceful coexistence, resignation to fate and consciousness of original sin-related existence and direction for the life in love practised and fulfilled. In chapter 4, historical meanings of the writer's fairy tales have been focused on his view of children on realistical basis, namely, affection and care about suffering and unhappiness for them which are found in dark places, overcoming of romantic fantasy, illumination on the life of the people deserted and abandoned in miserable history of our nation, the life reflecting the importance of process, and permanent and firm establishment of the direction for nationalistic child literature,
