협동적 읽기·쓰기 통합(CIRC) 프로그램이 초등학생의 읽기 능력 및 쓰기 능력에 미치는 효과

The Effects of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition Program on the Elementary Students' Reading and Writing Abilities

이 연구는 협동적 읽기·쓰기 통합(CIRC) 프로그램이 초등학생의 9-4기 능력 및 쓰기 능력에 미치는 효과를 알아보는 데 그 목적이 있다. 연구 대상으로는 초등학교 3학년 두 학급을 선정하여한 학급은 실험 집단으로, 다른 학급은 통제 집단으로 배치하였다. 두 집단은 읽기 능력 및 쓰기능력에 관한 사전 검사 실시 후, 실험 집단에서는 종 9주 45차시의 CIRC 프로그램을 통한 읽기·쓰기 통합 학습, 통제 집단에서는 읽기 ·쓰기 분과 학습이 이루어졌고, 실험 처치가 끝난 후 사후 검사를 실시하였다. 연구결과, CIRC 프로그램을 통한 읽기 ·쓰기 통합 학습은 이해 능력, 요약 능력 신장에는 긍정적인 효과를 나타내었으나 추론 능력 신장에는 긍정적인 효과가 나타나지 않았다. 또한, CIRC 프로그램을 통한 읽기 ·쓰기 통합 학습은 글의 내용 구성 능력, 글의 조작 능력 신장에는 긍정적인 효과를 나타내었으나 글의 표현 능력 신장에는 긍정적인 효과가 나타나지 않았다. CIRC 프로그램이 읽기 능력 및 쓰기 능력에 미치는 효과를 알아보기 위하여 과정 중심의 질적 관찰도 고려하여야 할 것이다.

The purpose of this study was to analyze of the elementary students' reading and writing abilities with the application of CIRC program. Cooperative instruction on subject were overcoming the problem of established instruction and making subject instruction more effectively. Especially, it was premised that cooperative instruction in language subject helps to improve a various language abilities. Due to the premise, utilization and application of CIRC program have been remarked. For this purpose, two classes elementary students at 3rd grade were selected. After the students had a preliminary test on reading and writing abilities, the experimental group students studied CIRC program on 45 units for 9 weeks. The followings are the results of research on reading and writing abilities: First, in terms of reading abilities, the participants showed an improvement in understanding and summarizing abilities with the application of CIRC program. But the participants didn't show an improvement in reasoning ability with the application of CIRC program. Second, in terms of writing abilities, the participants showed an improvement in abilities for construct, organize text with the application of CIRC program. But the participants didn't show an improvement in ability for express text with the application of CIRC program. The implication of this study was that the use of CIRC program helped to improve the elementary students' reading and writing abilities. However, it was strongly needed to improve the ways to increase students' reasoning ability, because statistical outcomes are proved to be difficult to define the effects of learning activities in the area of students' reasoning ability.
