초등학교 교과서의 장애인 관련 내용에 내재된 의미체계의 탐색

The Analysis on Signifying System about People with Disabilities in Textbooks of Elementary School Level

장애인에 대한 일반인의 사회적 인식과 태도는 장애인 문제의 해결이나 통합교육 등과 같은 특수교육의 새로운 패러다임을 현장에 정착시키는데 많은 영향을 미친다. 아동의 장애인관은 학교 교육이나 대중매체 등의 다양한 경로를 통해 기성세대가 부여한 가치체계의 습득을 통해 체계적으로 조형된다. 따라서 바람직한 장애인관 형성을 위해서는 편견이나 고정관념의 형성 근원을 밝히고 개선책을 모색하는 것이 필요하다. 본 연구는 아동의 인식형성에 많은 영향을 미친다고 볼 수 있는 초등학교 교과서의 장애인 관련 내용에 내재된 의미체계의 탐색을 통해 아동의 장애인관 형성의 근원을 규명하고, 바람직한 장애인관 형성을 위한 교과서의 내용구성 방향을 제시하고자 했다. 탐색 결과, 초등학교 교과서의 장애인 관련 내용은 특정 학년과 교과서를 중심으로, 대부분 일반인 또는 주체자로서가 아니라 특별한 존재 또는 수혜자로서의 장애인을 상정하고 있었으며, 주체적인 장애인의 의미를 제시하려는 경향은 매우 부분적으로 나타나고 있었다. 따라서 바람직한 장애인관 형성을 위해서는 다문화적 관점에서 일반인과 동등하게 장애인의 생각과 삶을 중심으로 한 내용구성으로의 전환이 필요하다고 본다.

Having desirable perspective for people with disabilities is important and essential to realize successful participation of society. The purposes of this study were to analyze of signifying system implicated on content about people with disabilities in textbooks of elementary school and present to the alternative ways of textbook construction for righteous viewpoint about them. The results of this study were as follows: First, the content about people with disabilities in textbooks of elementary school were only presented on textbooks of a specified grades, subject matter, and theme. Second, the people with disabilities in textbooks mainly signified on exceptional being and receiver of service. Third, for having righteous viewpoint for people with disabilities, the contents of the textbooks needed controversion into multi-cultural viewpoint with the life of people with disabilities. Therefore this study concluded that the contents of the textbooks for elementary school level have to consider what are the purposes and methods to illustrate the reality of life for the people with disability themselves.
