Strategic Direction of Internet Business By the type of its Business

According to the structural perspective of strategy, the strategy of a firm is determined by the characteristics of the industry, and the strategy affects the performance of the firm. This research aims to address the strategic differences of the Internet business by the type of its business. For this purpose, it develops a classification scheme of Internet business on the basis of customer value, and analyzes the strategic directions of each type of business. The scheme consists of two dimensions, i.e. the intensity of access and the scope of offering. Four types of Internet business are derived from the scheme, and the strategic implications of each type of business are analyzed on the basis of value for the customer.
