The article shows the importance of product sound-design within the usability engineering process. A brief overview on history and recent trends in the field of product sound-design is given. Furthermore, requirements and possibilities for applications are named regarding the design and use of confirmative sounds. Finally, an outlook focuses on the need for increasing attempts regarding intercultural usability engineering for the development of new products.
