A Study on the Cluster of Port-Logistics Industry in Busan

In this paper, we suggest a method of going beyond the descriptive approach to the analysis of port-logistics clusters. In particular, we layout a means of using detailed information on national inter-industrial linkages that help identify existing and potential port-logistics cluster in Susan. According to the study results, the supporting water transport activities are a core supplier within the port-logistics clusters of the purchasing linkages, and the oceangoing transports are a core buyer within the port-logistics clusters of the sales linkages. Therefore, it is needed for these sectors to be agglomerated in Susan in order to promote economic spillover effect. And it is needed for the port-logistics policy to be established differentiated support strategies and systems of the regional port-logistics industry according to characteristics and developmental stages of industrial agglomerations.
