The Theory of Love and Ecological Evaluation of a Triangular Love Scale

본 연구는 Sternberg에 의해 제안된 사랑의 삼각형 이론과 측정 도구를 우리나라 청소년들에게 실시하고, 그 결과를 통하여 검사 도구에 대한 생태학적 평가를 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 그가 주장하는 사랑의 삼각형 이론은 친밀감, 열정, 헌신의 3요인으로 되어 있으며, 이 3요인들을 측정하는 도구는 모두 45문항으로 구성되어 있다. 청소년을 대상으로 5점 척도를 사용하여 자료를 수집하였으며, Sternberg와 동일한 방법으로 각 요인별 상.하부 15% 점수와 전체 평균 점수를 산출하고 요인분석을 하였다. 분석 결과, 두 나라 모두 친밀감 상.하부 점수 및 평균 점수가 가장 높게 나타났다. 요인분석도 Sternberg의 분석 결과와 동일하게 나타나, 그의 사랑 측정 도구는 우리나라에서 타당하다고 할 수 있다. 이와 함께 이 검사 도구의 신뢰도도 매우 높게 나타났다. 이를 기초로 하여 우리나라 청소년의 연령에 따른 사랑의 요인 구조를 확인하기 위하여 학교급별 공분산행렬(HΣ : Σ(1)=Σ(2)=Σ(3))을 검증한 결과 동일한 것으로 밝혀졌다. 우리나라 청소년들의 사랑 요인 구조를 분석한 결과 친밀감과 열정은 상관관계를 가지고 있으며, 이 두 요인이 각각 헌신의 요인에 .22, .35의 영향을 주는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이 연구를 기초로 사랑의 지속 기간, 연령, 표집 방법을 다양화한 계속적인 연구가 요구된다.

Love is among the most important thing in human being. Yet our knowledge of the nature of love remains uncertain because the concept of love is not defined and its tool is not considered scientifically respectable to measure love in Korea. The purpose of this study was to review the theory of love and evaluate the validation of the Sternberg's love scale in terms of ecology in Korea. He proposed the triangular theory of love(intimacy, passion, decision/commitment) and made the test tool to measure love. For this study translated Sternberg's test tool to Korean. It was composed of three factors and 45 items. Subjects were 170 middle schools, high schools, and university students. The reliability of tools was .92, .93, .95(Cronbach alpha) each other. Results are as follows. First, founded that his test tool of love is very valid in Korea and has high reliability. Second, appeared that the factor structure of love was the same in spite of the age. Third, was identified that the correlation of coefficient intimacy between passion is .62 and they have an direct effect on decision/ commitment. In conclusion, these results show that we must study love in science and need to understand how the emotional experiences are interpreted by the lovers.
