한국 제조업의 기술수준 결정요인 분석

Determinants of Technological Level in Korean Manufacturing Industry

본고는 한국 제조업의 세계 최고수준 대비 기술수준을 결정하는 요인들을 기술경채이론과 경영자원 의존이론을 통해 살펴보았다. 한국 제조업의 세계 최고수준 대비 기술수준은 기술 경제적 요인인 국내시장 경쟁정도, 연구개발투자 비중, 조립기업과 부품기업 간 협력관계로부터 긍정적 영향을 받고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 반면, 연구 개발인력 비중, 기업규모 등은 국내 제조기업의 세계 최고수준 대씩 제품기술수준에 영향을 미치지 못하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 이 분석에서 얻을 수 있는 정책적 시사점은 한국 제조업의 기술수준을 제고하기 위해서는 국내시장을 더욱 경쟁적으로 전환하며, 연구개발투자, 특히 연구개발 인력 등을 확충하고, 조립기업과 부품기업 간 공동발전을 촉진하는 정책을 통해 기업의 연구개발을 강화하는 지원이 이루어져야 한다는 것이다.

This study examines the R&D efficiency in Korean manufacturing industry by making multiple logistic regression of the product technological level with firms' endogenous technological efforts and cooperations for R&D between assembling and supplying firms. The technological level of Korean manufacturing industry is analyzed to have been positively influenced by competitive market structure, R&D investment and cooperative relationship, but not impacted by firm size and R&D man powers. The implications of this study are as follows: i) to heighten the technological level, domestic market would be transformed to be more competitive; ii) Korean manufacturing industry should make efforts intensifying R&D-related man powers and investments; iii) although the firm size is analyzed to have no impact on technological level, firms, larger or smaller, must be supported to accumulate technological capabilities; iv ) R&D-cooperating efforts between assembling and supply- ing firms should be supported.
