A Study on the Export Activation of the Daejon-Chungnam Area

It is expected that Daejon - Clumgnam region will be the center of Korea in tenns of various aspects, including politics, economy, culture, etc., resulting from the administration's current plans of regions' balanced development and development of Daejon - Chungnam area as the new administrative capital. But in reality, the infrastructure, currently established in this area, is not fulfilling this expectation and export. foreign trade achievement falls behind other regions. Thus, this study analyzes the data focusing on actual statistics of current export trend of Daejon - Chungnam area and presents the problems and coping strategies. Despite export increase of this area is well expected, thanks to the enhancement of export competitiveness, by virtue of transportation hub, securing of talented human resources, proximity to shipping ports, the share of export of this region occupying among the tota! amount of our country remains the middle or low range level. This study presents the encouragement of export of value-added items, classified among knowledge-based industry, production structure shift from small item mass production system to that of small quantity batch production and encouragement of aggressive marketing activities, as a strategy of increasing export of Daejon-Chungnam region.
