Performance Evaluation of New DBA Algorithm for ATM-PON Systems

In this paper, we suggest a new DBA algorithm and two system configurations that are proper to this algorithm. The proposed algorithm complies with the ITU-T recommendation G.983.l[1] and G.983.4[2] that was recently standardized and supports ATM service classes such as CBR, rt VBR, nrt VBR, ABR, and UBR. One of two proposed system configurations uses T -CONT type 5 as DBA working unit and the other does four T-CONTs (T-CONT type 1, 2, 3, 4). We apply the proposed algorithm to these systems and then perform a comparative performance evaluation on them using traffic parameter such as CDV(Cell Delay Variation) and maximum queue-length in T-CONT buffers through computer simulation.
