A Study on Buckling Analysis of Circular Cylindrical Shell Structures by Geometrical Nonlinear Method

This paper presents buckling analysis of the circular cylindrical shell structures subjected to pressure loads considering geometrical nonlinearity. The geometrically nonlinear analysis is peiformed using a Updated Lagrangian Formulation. Based on the parametric study, buckling loads decreases significantly as the radius-thickness ratio increases, while buckling loads decreases slightly as the height-thickness ratio increases. These results are different from those obtained from buckling analysis of beams. The present results are compared with a solutions by Flugge's equations. Buckling loads reduces 1~2% compared with a solutions by Flugge's equations.
