Despite the enormous favor from the international society including the political and economic supports, Pyongyang regime has clearly shown that it has not extricated itself from the obsession of becoming a nuclear power. The new crisis caused by the incident of developing the nuclear weapons through the method of uranium enrichment justifies such a pessimistic view. To solve the problem in question, the primary policy instruments should probably be the political conversations among the states and international organizations involved, but unfortunately the necessity and inevitability of the options of economic and military sanctions to be employed have been constantly mentioned. South Korea, the United States, Japan, and the rest of the liberal world should approach the North Korea problem carefully, considering that the coercive measures, especially the military movement could cause a great adverse effects on the situations in the Korean Peninsula and the politico-military relations in East Asia in general.
