현대사회에서 요구하는 인재상은 문제를 발견하고 이의 해결에 필요한 자료나 정보가 무엇인지를 판단하고, 자료가 문제 상황에 적절한 것인지 평가하며 나아가, 적절한 문제해결방법을 찾아내는 등의 자기주도학습능력과 문제해결 능력을 갖추고 있는 사람이다. 학습자를 도와 줄 자원이 충분하지 못한 현재의 교육실정에서 교사는 학습자의 능력과 사회적 요구에 적합한 새로운 교수학습방법을 지속적으로 모색해야 한다. 교수-학습과정에 관한 구성주의 이론의 최근 연구동향을 살펴보면 새로운 교수학습방법으로 문제중심수업에 관한 연구가 부각되어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 문제중심학습과 기존수업과의 차이, 문제중심학습의 효과, 선행연구 및 실행요소 등을 분석하며, 현대사회가 요구하는 자기주도적 학습자와 문제해결기술을 갖춘 학습자를 육성하기 위한 문제중심학습을 위한 설계지침을 제시하고자 한다.
The workplace of the 21st century requires the man who not only have an extensive store of knowledge, but who also know how to keep that knowledge up-to-date, apply it to solve problems. That is, ability which was needed current society is self-directed learning skills and problem solving skills. Accordingly instructional strategy in education encourages learners to confront problems, to design a plan to solve the problems and to identify the resource they need. Problem-based learning is one of a range of constructivist strategies for teaching and learning, based on a product of both cognitive and social interactions in problem-centered environments This purpose of study was to find difference of traditional versus problem-based learning, the goal of problem-based learning, and literature review and implementation elements of problem-based learning. Further this study was to suggest planning guideline of problem-based learning.
