This study focused on the early development auditory performance evaluated by LiP Profile(Listening Progress Profile) for infants and children with cochlear implants. The subjects for the study were 11 infants and children who received the Nucleus system(10) and MED-EL system(1). All subjects were congenital and prelingually deaf and the mean age at the time of implantation was 2 years 5 months(ranged from 16 months to 3 years 8 months). The thresholds of cochlear implant be weared was 35.5dBHL(ranged from 25dB to 45dB). All of the subjects was evaluated at pre-operation, near initial fitting, 1 month, 3 month, 6 month, 9 month, 12 month and 18 month interval. The results were the auditory performance of cochlear implanted infants and children continuos improved over time. And then the development rate of implanted children who before the age of 2 more effective when compared with older children. The results of this study were indicate that the use of cochlear implant system during early period in the life more effective development of listening ability. But the evaluation of listening ability in younger children were more important tasks in all of rehabilitation staffs.
