The Investigation of the Domestic Violence in Jeollabuk-Do

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the situation of the domestic violence and to propose future preventive measures in Jeollabuk-Do. The investigation areas are Jeonju, Gunsan, Iksan, Jeongeup. The examination method is a counter-interview through a question paper. The research result follow to ; 1. 71.3% of Jeollabuk-Do residents know the existence of the domestic violence laws. 2. 47.1% of residents feel that the domestic violence is serious. 3. 24.0% of respondents have experienced directly a domestic violence. 4. behaviors of domestic violence are mainly the man, fathers(31.0%), husbands(49.5%). 5. The reasons of domestic violence are characteristic troubles(42.1%), drinking(17.6%), economic problems(16.2), children problem(9.3%), etc. 6. Only 14.4% of victims present the fact of victim to the police. 7. When the domestic violence occurred, 89.2% of respondents think positively about the intervention of the police. This research proposal follows to ; 1. Many residents should have to recognize the domestic violence through a mass media. 2. Local governments have to support the prevention activities of the domestic violence and to sponsor financially civil organizations. 3. The police to call out the field of the domestic violence have to actively take measures.
