This study aims at argument over vowel variation which appeared in dialogic languages in Lee Mun-gu's novels. His dialogic language seems to try to choose regional dialects and folk language. Lee's novel accomplishes a unique style in regional dialects and folk language, and manifests the fusion of language and literature as well as It dynamically tries semantic communication with readers. The vowel variation in Lee's novel appears more strongly to reinforce the characters than that in the field. This is because he emphasizes the localization of background in his novel. highlights a character, and represents the reality of the development in plots. The positive use of dialects in his novel represents a stylistic mechanism to accomplish mutual assistance through the enforcement of characters and specification of the background, and furthermore it functions as transmission system. The contents in this study are as follows: 1. Lee's novel actively takes advantages of 'umlaut', and /r/ in his novel. 2. The uses of raising vowels such as [e ->i, e->i, a ->e]. [o->u] are prominent. 3. Low vowel and back vowel are more prominent than raising vowel and front vowel. 4. Interrogatives are realized as rounding diphthong ( [a ---> wa]). 5. Falling diphthong appears only in [E ---> ay]. [0 ---> oy]. and /uy/ appears as [u]
