Chinese Classics of Daejeon & Chungnam Province in Modern Times and in the Present Age

This paper aims at finding the literary writers, who should be studied, when Chinese classics of Daejeon & Chungnam Province have been researched in modem times. So Cheongsa(penname) Shim. Sang-gyo (1837-1918). Sudang (penname) Lee. Nam-gyu (1855-1007) and Hyunsan (penname) Lee. Hyun-gyu (1882-1949) are studied for thier litearary life and characteristics. The results are as follows: 1. Cheongsa Shim. Sang-gyo: ① He had a life full of ups and downs. And he was a patriot who has creative writing style. That was very important for him. ② He used national and historical troubles and patriotism as his poetic subject. Besides. he projected personal emotion or feeling in his life to his poetry. 2. Sudang Lee, Nam-gyu: ① He was upright and faithful patriot. He also paid great attention to literary world. ② His loyalty to the king is very logical and touching. In his writings, Report of Three Women Slave-Servants, he made the nobility recognize their minds by showing three women slave-servants' loyalty and directly represent it, to obtain the post in the government is not right in Response to Y un, Ja-sam. 3. Hyunsan Lee. Hyun-gyu: He is right and strong scholar though he lived in poverty. He had a profound knolwedge of the ancient classics. In Readings of Teacher Oh. He showed his skeptical thought about the current idea of nature in Kokhojeongki Through the research, I believed that they accomplished their own literary world. Therefore, when we write and study Chinese classics in modem times. Shim, Sang-kyo as a poet, Lee, Nam-kyu and Lee, Hyun-kyu as researchers of the ancient classics should be seriously considered. In fact, in Chungcheong Province Chinese classics have not been studied for a long time. So to understand the outline of Chinese classics in modern times. Gisan Kim, Bok-han (1860-1924), Saga Yu, Ho-geun (1861-1926), Pabyeon Im. Han-ju (1871-1954), Dongsan Shim. Jae-geuk (1886-1949), Woojae Yu, In-taek (1890-1973), Gundang Lee, Gyu-heon (1896-1976), and Hanghae Kim, Ro-dong (1899-1958) should be also researched and studied.
