The Popular Writing Style on Dong Sang Gi

This paper is aimed at showing that Dong Sang Gi is a play with the popular writing style. In order to verify this subject, Dong Sang Gi was studied by three points, the method of playwriting, realization of the subject, and the playwriter's mind. Dong Sang Gi is not based on reality wIth detailed information but on the oral tradition among the mass, so the life of late Chosun people was embodied in this work. Dong Sang Gi shows the successful ruling story by Jung Jo. In addition to this subject, it contains another subject, saving poor people. Dong Sang Gi focussed on the latter one between these bilateral subjects. Dong Sang Gi describes the living condition and emotion of the late Chosun people and this is the very evidence that the playwriter felt affection toward them and interested in them. Although the writer had the popular literary style, he failed in trying to show his will and serious consideration for looking for the solution of social reality: therefore, we can argue on the limitation of him as a playwriter of Dong Sang Gi.
