This paper is a study on Choi Tae-eung s novel focusing on his novel that appeared serially in a local newspaper in Dae-gu city. 「Is Happiness a Sorrow(행복은 슬픔인가)」(『YoungNam-ilbo』,1954.10.24-1955,2.24) and 「The Decline of Romance(낭만의 조락)」(『Daegu-mail』,1956.3.25-7.3) are the works that have yet to be discovered by researchers, and meaningful in the research of the post Korean war literature in the 1950 s. Following are three foundings of this study: 1. One of the most representative characteristics in Choi Tae-eung s novel is the fact that there is a character who is taming and voluntary in his novel. 2. 「Is Happiness a Sorrow」 reveals the special confrontation of post war novels. 3. 「The Decline of Romance」 attempts to introspectively review a space of colony in the era of preliberation. These three foundings support an assumption that the study of Choi Tae-eung s novel is helpful for that of post Korean war novels.
