The aspects of transmit and tragedy of 'najungmibu'

This paper was prepared for discussing the aspects of transmit and tragedy of 'najungmibu', one of the text in korean folklore. On the ground of transmission and variation, This story-telling was classified into 3 types -the types of happy ending, tragic separation, happy reunion. In these types, I guessed, the second type was original and another were derived from tragic separation which was contained the destiny of a hero. He got discouraged from the violence of a power holder. This story was composed by two parts. the first was about the fantastic world, the other was about the actual earth. This composition reflected the sorrow of people. And this folklore suggested that to get something in fantastic world was nothing and no reality. This means also that a happy in imaginary society was ruined by the tragedy of this world. Transmitted and sincere song sung by the dead hero who rebirth as bird and search his kidnaped wife testify these facts.
