이주홍의 미완의 장편소설 「야화」 연구

The purpose of this paper is to analyze Lee's half finished novel. Indeed, it was a discontinued serial publication which was appearing seven times serially in the [Sahae Kongron 사해공론] from the edition of October, 1936 to May edition of 1937. Author attempted to publish it by adding more to the serial at Poongrim Sa in 1938 in vain. This novel vividly and realistically depicts the suffering and painful daily life as a farmhand. Since far the author has been well known as the author of the Folk Tale even after Korean War. Furthermore this fiction brings out vitality and a sense of reality through people's daily lives. Thus his Folk Tale[야화] is easily classified as realistic rural novel revealing the paucity and scarcity in the farm life in the latter of 1930s and evokes a new form of rural fiction in terms of the protagonist is drifting from place to place as a farmhand.
