The modem period provided the current poetry with a new tradition. It is the poetics of the identification by visual representations. The poetic experiences in the Korean current poetry has achieved the modernization through visual representations. The modem world-vision is started from the perception of the existence of the subject by visual senses. The poetry of Chung, Ji-Yong in 1930's visually reconstructs the world transcending the pathos and the romantic emotionalism in 1920's. It pursues self-identification toward the world through visual images. First of all, the metaphor by visual representations that his poetry shows is the pivotal aethetic element constructing the modernity of his poetry. This study tried to examine the modernity of his poetry by analizing and finding the metaphor as aethetic forms in his poetry. To the poet, Chung, Jj-Yong, the metaphor is not the simple image, but the dimension of the perception coming over toward the world of thinking and knowing. His metaphor leads to 'understanding'. The expansion as a new understanding produces the genealogy of the current poetry which is the construction of poetic reality.
