한국 출판의 영미권 진출을 위한 전략 연구

There are two axioms - "Trade follows the book"and "Books can be our best ambassadors". It all emphasize the importance of book exporting. Now these day, the book become a cultural industry, especially in the digital era. Book exports has two functions in social environment. The one is economic function, and the other is cultural function. Through the economic function, the company make added-values and the cultural function makes the understanding the other culture and management of cultural conflict. So exporting the book contribute to wold peace. The characteristics of U.S.A book industry is idiosyncratic, individualistic and complex. U.S book sales totaled $ 26,874,100,000 in 2002, a 5.5 percent increase 2001, according to figures just released by the Association of American Publishers(AAP). Top 5 export destinations for book are Canada, UK, Japan, Austrailia, Mexico(Korea -> 8th). Top 5 import source of books are China, UK, Canada, Hongkong, Singapore(Korea->10th). The statistics of Korean book exports are as follows: In these situation , we must analyze our environment by SWOT. The results of SWOT are as follows: There are some kinds of strategies about book exporting, but in this paper we developed strategic model. That are as follows: Book exporting is very important in an aspects of culture and economics. Especially book exporting to U.S.A and UK is very important because there are the gateway to the global book market.
