Reflections of Korean Teachers upon The Global In-Service Program

이 연구는 한국의 국제이해교육 교사연수프로그램을 평가하기 위해 실시되었다. 평가는 2001년부터 아시아태평양국제이해교육원 (APCEIU)이 실시하는 교사연수프로그램에 참여한 교사들에 의해 이루어졌다. 연구 결과 프로그램에 대한 교사들의 평가는 대체적으로 만족한 것으로 나타났으나, 프로그램의 발전을 위해 개선돼야 할 문제점이 여러 가지 지적되었다. 이러한 지적과 프로그램에 대한 교사들의 요구조사 및 국제이해교육의 전반적 동향에 기초하여 프로그램의 발전을 위한 여러 방안이 제시되었다. 교사들은 연수에서 배운 것을 어떻게 교실에서 실제 활용할 수 있는가에 가장 관심이 많은 것으로 나타났다. 수업에서의 적용가능성을 높이기 위한 방안으로 다양한 교수방법, 학습경험, 국제이해교육의 주요주제들이 논의되었다. 또한 프로그램의 운영 방법에 대해서는, 연수프로그램의 기간이 확대될 필요가 있으며, 학습 단계에 따라 과정이 세분화되고, 모든 교과의 교사들이 함께 참여하도록 유도해야 한다는 제안이 이루어졌다.

This study was implemented to assess an in-service program for global understanding in Korea. The assessment was made by the teachers who participated in the APCEIU in-service program since 2001. The studv results showed that the teachers were generally satisfied with the program, but there were some problems that should be addressed for the Improvement of the program. Based on these findings and the need assessment of the teachers, some recommendations were presented. The teachers were most concerned about the applicability of the program. The various instructional methodologies, learning experiences, and important topics in global education were discussed in a way to enhance the applicability in the classroom. One other important issue among the teachers was the way to operate the program. The program needs to expand in terms of the duration, levels of learning and should include teachers from various fields.
