청소년 단계에서의 시각교육의 중요성

A Importance of Visual Education at Youth Stage

본 연구의 목적은 청소년 단계에서의 시각 교육의 중요성을 논하고 좌뇌 훈련 중심 의 현 교육환경체계로 인한 인간성 말살을 비판하면서 기초 교과로서 우뇌 훈련 중심 의 시각 교육을 제안하는데 있다. 시각교육이란 자기 표현을 통한 감성 훈련을 말하며 이는 미술교육이 담당하여야 한다. 이러한 논의의 토대 위에서 현행 미술 교육의 문제 점을 살펴보고 청소년의 성장단계에 맞춘 시각 교육의 필요성을 논하였다. 시각 교육 은 미술의 새로운 기초(New Art Basics)로서 기존의 미술, 미술교육과는 다른 개념 으로 미술의 기능을 확대하여 자기 표현, 창의성, 감수성을 개발하는 자기 치유적 과 정으로서의 미술을 제안한다. 이의 구체적 사례로서, 현재 진행하고 있는 ‘자기 표현 워크샵: -자아를 찾아가는 미술 여행’을 들어 소개 하였다. 시각교육은 결론적으로 청 소년들에게 자신을 알고, 남을 이해하게 하며 서로를 소통하게 하는 체험으로서 역할 을 한다.

This paper aims to discuss the importance of visual education in teen education. It criticizes the destructive effects on human nature caused by the current left-brain centered education system, and emphasizes the importance of art education’s role in visual education, as well as sensitivity-training through self-expression. Thus, the problems of the current art education system are analyzed, and ‘Visual Education based on Right-Brain Training’ is suggested as a solution. In addition, this paper analyzes the problems of art education in elementary and middle schools, and discusses the necessity of customized visual art education based on the development levels of the teenagers. Visual art education, as a New Art Basics, expands the function of art and suggests a selfcuring process that develops self-expression, creativity, and sensibility. Two examples, ‘Self-Expression Workshop: the Art Journey to Find the Self’ and ‘Drawing with the Right Brain,’ are discussed.
