A Study of the Fantasy in the Historical Novel 'Mooyoungtap'

Hyun Jin-gun's literary perspective starts with his thought that he can catch and depict a social progress as an objective reality. Realism which rooted his literary perspective, however, grasps the objective reality critically. The historical reality suggested in 1930's brought him a new literary perspective. His historical novel's trait describes the unrealistic narrative significantly. Delivering the folklore's fantasy, he doubts constantly the absence and the loss in reality. Therefore, he copes with his time's desire which tries to escape from social order. His literary perspective takes precautions against an authority that reason is not only the moral but the alternative of the tradition. The fantasy in the historical novel ‘Mooyoungtap’ is an impious and antisocial action while thinking of the those days' intellectual reality. In addition, it was a desperately literary desire.
