This paper aims at studying introduction of Baudelaire's poetry to the Korean poetry and its accepted aspects, focused to the early poetry of Midang Seo, Jeong-ju. As a result, there was direct relation between Baudelaire, sender, and Midang, recipient. And poetic similarity between them was found out in several ways. Well-know poet, Baudelaire is a French representative poet who was the father of modern poetry in poetic contents and techniques. His name was well known to literary world in Korea at the beginning of 1930s when Midang started his literary career. In addition, his main poems of Les Fleurs Du Mal were specifically translated into Korean for introduction. In 1920s and 1930s, the forerunners who introduced his poetry to the Korean literary world were leading figures such as Kim, Ahn-seo, Back, Dae-jin and Yang, Joo-dong at that time. Direct evidence that Midang was influenced by him is found out in poem "Sudaedong poem(수대동시)" and in prose "The persons influencing on my poetry and thought" in which he told their name directly. Thus, Midang evidently knew them when engaging in creative writing. In addition, similar to Baudelaire’s poetic world, Midang's poetry characteristics showed the following ones; melancholy to modern life, understanding of inconsistent life, and longing for sexual desire and sensual world. These bases are definite proofs that he imitated his poetic features with passion and transformed them into his own poetic ones. Concretely speaking, it cannot be possible to deny the fact that melancholy to modern life shown in “Wall” and “Sad river" is very similar to “Melancholy" and “mask" by Baudelaire and understanding of inconsistent life in “Striped snake(화사)" is closely related to the theme of “Hymn for beauty". Also, longing for sexual desire and sensual world found in “Daytime(대낮)," “Summer with barleys(맥하)" and “Country woman(가시내)" shows similar inclination toward the theme of “To reader," “The dead body" and “That night I stayed up with a horrible jew woman". Therefore, it is evident that there is influencing and similar relation between Baudelaire, forefather of modern poetry in France, and Seo, Jeong Joo, a figure who led a literary stream called 'A life school(생명파)' in the aspects of comparative literature. However, it is regretable that opportunity to compare and analyze the image of blood shown in these two poet's poetry frequently, to perform enough general research to more their works in total, and to approach to Baudelaire‘s original poetry in French due to the problem of language were not given well.
