≪樂學軌範≫의 戱曲學的 考察

A Study on Akhakgyebeom, Principle of Music (樂學軌範) as a Drama

This study analyzes and generalizes Akhakgyebeom as a drama. In other words, Akhakgyebeom is reflected as a theory of performance and a compilation of scripts with a synthetic scientific methodology. The main discussions are summarized as follows: First, a musical theory shown in Akhakgyebeom is oriented for performance as a practical principle, which can be applied to A-ak, Dang-ak, and Sok-ak. Therefore, musicians, instrumentalists, and singers are identified. Not only music scores but also instrument-manufacturing, tuning, and performing methods are specified. Akhakgyebeom shows actual examples and functions of dramatic music. In addition, it shows dramatic characteristics through drama performances. The musical theory of Akhakgyebeom of itself plays a musical role and functions as a basic theory of drama. Second, the scripts in Akhakgyebeom are discussed as a dramatic study on the assumption that they are produced as a genre of drama through dramatic performance. They are classified as singing, dancing, and mixed scripts under the category of Korean drama. Further, the possibility of adapting them to mixed scripts of songs & tales and dialog scripts is verified. Synthetic performance quality and dramatic characteristics are found: singing script in “Siyongdeungga (時用登歌)” of A-akjinseoldoseol, dancing script in “Bongraeeui”in Siyonghyangakjeongjaedoeui, and mixed script in “Hakyeonhwadaecheoyongmuhapseol”in Siyonghyangakjeongjaedoeui. Third, it is verified that dancing-equipment and costume parts in Akhakgyebeom provide the dramatic foundation and the properties of the play. Because dancing equipment in the performance of each script support the dramatic process, Akhakgyebeom has dramatic characteristics in terms of production and prop theories. Make-up and costumes in harmony with the scripts' performance procedures lead dramatic processes. In terms of make-up and costume theories, Akhakgyebeom is equipped with dramatic characteristics. In conclusion, Akhakgyebeom is evaluated as a compilation of drama theories and plays, which provides basic theories and typical scripts for performances in the royal palace and for the upper classes of the time. Further, it can be called a collection of art theory and works of art in the century based on play and literary theories as well as drama and performance theories. Therefore, it is time that Akhakgyebeom was reflected as a dramatic art, and its historic importance was considered.
