This paper investigates the oral tradition on tales of Baekgyus Wi(魏伯珪) in two aspects: locations of the oral tradition and subjects' points of view. First, locations of oral tradition, Gwansan (冠山) and Jangheung (長興) are identified as independent units of the oral tradition. Another area is Okgwa (玉果) where Wi was a governor. Subjects of the oral tradition were Confucian scholars and well-educated people. Reconstruction of Wi's life through the oral tradition is described in three parts by classifying his works: his birth and growing-up tales, tales on learning and activities in the country, and governing tales. Finally, tales of the oral tradition supplemented the missing parts of the written texts to reconstruct Wi's life. The tales are divided into two parts: orally and written tales. Both are useful in the reconstruction of Wi's life. For instance, the oral tradition makes Wi's life richer and more profound. It also contributes to the reconstruction of Wi's real life and experiences out of his life in written texts.
