A Study on the Practical Usages of the Reimbursement Undertaking in the Letter of Credit Transactions

The purpose of this study is to promote understanding on the reimbursement undertaking under documentary credits In a credit transaction the claiming bank frequently would like to have an explicit assurance from the reimbursing bank that the latter will honour claims In this case, the claiming bank will request the issuing bank to authorize the reimbursing bank to issue its reimbursement undertaking Reimbursement undertaking is used in the URR 525 for act of a reimbursing bank issuing its irrevocable undertaking to pay reimbursement claims. Reimbursement undertaking is a separate and independent undertaking of the reimbursing hank to the nominated hank that said reimbursing bank will honour claims presented under the issuing bank's reimbursement authorization. The reimbursing bank becomes obligated to honour claims, providing the claims comply with the specific con야샤ons of its reimbursement undertaking.
