기술혁신상의 사용자와 재조업자의 상호작용에 관한 연구 : 반도체 검사장비 산업을 중심으로

Interaction between Users and Manufacturers in Technological Innovation : Semiconductor Inspection Equipment Industry

우리나라의 반도체 산업은 지난 10여 년 간 놀랄만한 성장을 보여왔다. 이토록 경이적인 성장을 보인 동인은 무엇일까? 본 연구자는 국내 반도체 소자업체의 적극적인 공정혁신 노력과 이를 뒷받침하기 위한 반도체 장비업체의 부단한 제품혁신 노력, 그리고 양자의 기술혁신을 극대화하기 위한 장비 사용자와 제조업자의 상호 호혜적인 상호작용노력에서 그 해답을 찾고자 한다. 본 연구는 사용자와 제조업자의 상호작용이 양자의 기술혁신에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가에 대하여 종단적으로 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 연구방법으로는 2차자료와 인터뷰를 활용하는 정성적 방법을 활용하였으며, 연구대상으로는 국내의 반도체 검사장비 (핸들러)산업을 선정하였다. 먼저 사용자 주도관점에 대한 이론을 고찰해 보고, 국내 반도체 검사장비(핸들러) 혁신상의 사용자와 제조업자의 상호작용 사례를 살펴본 후, 마지막으로 본 연구의 시사점 및 한계를 논하고자 한다.

Korea's semiconductor industry has achieved phenomenal growth for the past 10 years. Then, what are the contributory factors behind the growth? The paper attributes this success to the strenuous effort of process innovation from Korea's semiconductor manufacturers, the active effort of product innovation from semiconductor equipment manufacturers, and the reciprocal effort between semiconductor manufacturers and semiconductor equipment manufacturers for their own technological innovation. The paper aims to investigate how the interaction of between users and manufacturers can influence their own technological innovation. To this end, the paper conducted a qualitative approach using secondary data and interviews, and chose a domestic semiconductor inspection equipment (i.e. handler) company. This paper first reviews customeractive paradigm and then, as a case in point, analyse the case of interaction between users and manufacturers in the Korean semiconductor inspection equipment industry; and finally, followed by discussing the implications and limitations of the study.
