양면조직(ambidextrous organization)의 작동 메커니즘 : 사례연구를 통한 탐색

Working Mechanisms of Ambidextrous organization : An Exploration through a Case Study

양면조직을 주장하는 연구들이 증가하고 있지만 이들 조직이 어떻게 작동되는지에 대한 메커니즘은 잘 설명되지 못하고 있다. 본 연구는 양면조직의 구체적 작동 메커니즘을 제시하는 것을 연구목적으로 한다. 다음의 연구가 진행되었다. 첫째, 양면조직은 어떤 조직적 속성을 양립시키고자 하는가를 이론적으로 살펴보았다. 둘째, 양면조직 연구의 역사적 흐름을 정리하였다. 셋째, 양면조직의 실제작동 메커니즘을 살펴보기 위하여 한국의 LG전자 디지털 어플라이언스 사업본부를 사례로 분석하였다. 이를 통하여 4가지의 작동 메커니즘을 추출하였다. 조직분할, 문제짜기, 메타요소 그리고 탈구성과 재수렴이 이들이다. 연구의 의미와 한계가 연구말미에 제시되었다.

While studies on ambidextrous organization have been increasing, working mechanisms of the organization are still in vague. The current study addressed this issue. Three research steps were employed. First, theoretical review on what were the natures of ambidextrous organization was performed. Second, historical research streams on ambidextrous organization were reviewed. Lastly, a case of LG Electronic's Digital Appliance Company was analyzed. From the case analysis, four working mechanisms of ambidextrous organization were delineated. They are partitioning, problematization, meta component, and deconstruction and reconvergence. Research implications and limitations were discussed at the end of the study.
