As we know it, the importation of Buddhism into Korean Peninsula and its development had played a decisive role on the enhancement of Korean ancient thought. In the process of its settlement Korean Buddhism had displayed a very creative way, or strategy for adaptation to Korean social environment. This was its voluntary harmonious gesture with Korean traditional religions and as a result it has been sometimes evaluated as the government patronized Buddhism. But the tactic which Korean Buddhism employed was literally just the means of existence, not the surrender to prevailing political powers. In that meaning I think that Korean Buddhist Culture has an enough potentiality to be a positive ethical culture being applicable in the past as well as in the future.
